Checking In at Home

“Do not be too sad, Sam. You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole, for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be, and to do.” – Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Today was spent attempting to recover from the journey of the weekend. My back was still quite sore, and I was still sick. I had slept most of the drive home and made every attempt to rest today as well. I got a massage, drank a lot of water, and hit a quick trail before going to the gym for some yoga and a long soak in a hot tub, and sweating it out in the sauna.

I decided to check out how the Lunch Loop was coming along. Much of the snow that had blanketed the ground when we left Colorado last week was melted upon our return. Kids Meal was mostly dry, with a couple of tacky areas, and water was flowing in the drainage.

It felt incredibly good to be home- cold, wet and muddy as it was. The smells assaulted me, and the sound of the water was like music. “My heart likes to laugh like a brook as it trips and falls over stones on its way…”
