“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
― André Gide

After our last GVTA Roundtable meeting, Kris and I got talking about potential areas for new trails. We decided a ride around the Gunnison Bluffs and Old Spanish Trail area was in order as soon as I got back from Utah.

We went out last night, and the temperature outside was pushing 100. After just a few minutes of riding, though, it dropped and the wind picked up and it was quite temperate.

Kris knows the area well and he was a perfect guide, taking us on the less-worn tracks and discussing the potential of the area- which is huge.

We rode through grass up to our shoulders. We saw a rainbow casting down from the clouds. We hiked along the canyon, above the gooseneck bend of the Gunnison River. We rode until we could look across the canyon and see the climb up Windmill Road. The sunset seemed to be incredible on every side of us. It was very, very fun.
