“Getting to the top of any given mountain was considered much less important than how one got there: prestige was earned by tackling the most unforgiving routes with minimal equipment, in the boldest style imaginable.”
― Jon Krakauer
Last night as I was prepping to ride of into the sunset with the ladies, Mike called inviting me to ride the Sarlacc trail with him the next day. Fortunately my friend and neighbor, Haley, was willing to pick Connor up from school and watch him so that I could.
It was a lot of fun to experience the full trail with Mike as a guide, and to see where the trail still needs work before the grand opening next month (the trail is closed Dec 1-May 1 for wildlife). The trail was flowy and fun, though fresh and tricky in parts, the dirt a little too aerated for much speed.
You see, I’ve committed to assisting with the grand opening celebration and will be assisting in the trail work this coming weekend. Some of the rare privileges that come with my volunteer work for the GVTA.
Enjoy the pix!
