“She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes…”
― George Gordon Byron

I knew that it would take time to recover from the White Rim. But I didn’t realize that it would be more than my body in needing of rest and care.

Today I found some time to nurse my heart and mind. I hiked into Echo Canyon, alone and at the very end of the day. There I found solitude. And rest.

On another note, I couldn’t help but muse about the changes to the trail. I think my last time hiking here was pre-surgery in December, when the world was frozen. Today the greenery was lush, and the air was hot and dry. It was a different experience and a different world.
