“The best rides are the ones where you bite off much more than you can chew, and live through it.” ~ Doug Bradbury
“Get a bicycle. You will certainly not regret it, if you live.” ~ Mark Twain
I got enough desk work done this morning that I felt OK about taking off the afternoon to drive Dennis around and take him for a bike ride. We decided to ride Palisade Rim together- something I’ve never done. I’ve ridden a lot of it, but not the entire upper loop, so this was a relatively new experience for me.
Riding with Dennis being something I LIKE to do is also a relatively new experience for me. But I’m finally fast enough that it is fun for both of us.
There were some scary moments and I crashed at least once, but for the most part it was just a good, hard workout. You can see it here on Strava.
I was tired when we finished, but I wasn’t done riding for the day. I hit the high school team practice and chased those little rug rats around the Lunch Loops for a bit. By the end of THAT I was tired, and begged a beverage off a couple of guys in the parking lot. They were cool and hooked me up with a Dirty Hippy. We got chatting and I got Melinda to pass them her business card and found out that one of the guys had received good trail advice from me several months ago on Facebook and had, way back then, offered to buy me a beer! Here it was and he was finally fulfilling his promise. I love moments like that! Also, the sunset was fantastic. And the high school kids are just awesome.
I got a lot of picture of the kids playing around climbing up Bentonite Hill and stuff, but I’m going to be selective of what I post here:
