Some Enchanted Evening

“…she remembered watching a summer sunset from this very spot. Not so long ago; just a lifetime.”
― Sharon Kay Penman

It was an amazing sunset tonight and I’m glad we were out on the desert to experience it. I had spent an hour or so practicing with a handbell choir or a performance on Sunday, and took my kids out afterward to check out 27 1/4 road as far as we could. Probably could have gone farther if we hadn’t been in the  black jeep.

But first we got an ice cream cone. And that was reminiscent of my childhood- getting a treat then going for a Jeep drive was one of the things my father considered as essential quality time with his kids. I remember the first time he let me have a hot fudge sundae instead of just an ice cream cone. I remember Eric not being able to stay clean while eating one- or any of the boys for that matter~! I’m pleased to say my kids seemed to handle it okay.

I’m also happy to report that my kids are clearly starting to notice and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors!
