St. Valentine’s Day

I’m going to make this one short and sweet.

We wanted to go out for Valentine’s Day…Out-SIDE that is!

Our favorite dates usually consist of a little dirt underneath us, stars overhead, and tasty beverages in our packs. Tonight was no exception.

We put the kids to bed and snuck out for a romantic drive up Little Park Road to the Upper No Thoroughfare Canyon trailhead.

The trailhead is almost impossible to see unless you know exactly where it is. Kind of like the Isla de Muerte in Pirates of the Caribbean.

The plan was to hike down into the canyon a bit, shoot some starry night pics, climb back out. Drink. But the trail was WAY TOO ICY.

So we just went down a ways, then watched the moonrise over the Grand Mesa. Drank.

It was perfection.
