“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tower high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Sometimes when I look at my kids, or the beauty of the sunset, or a waterfall, or the light hitting the red rocks….I think I feel a bit like Sam at this moment.
Sometimes life is filled with shadow, and we have to look above the reek and wreckage and let the beauty into our heart.
I was tired today after yesterday’s exertions. We didn’t get out until evening. It was turned cold and started to rain a little, but the kids were excited to go to White Rocks and climb around. So we did.
“Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind and soul.” ― Amit Ray, Yoga and Vipassana: An Integrated Life Style I love Yoga. I practice it several times a week. I really, really enjoy my yoga class, when I can attend, and only slightly more do I really really really really love doing yoga outside. Up that to doing it in a beautiful location. Uppity up up THAT to doing it in a beautiful location while also watching my kids climb around and play with one another and I’m pretty certain I found nirvana.
Not many pictures today. I was too busy doing yoga. But I did take a shot of this horse footprint inside the Monument and Tim doing this awesome jump.
