“No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training… what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” – Socrates
I was told last week that I would be able to race the Beti Bike Bash the first weekend of June. This was great news- and terrifying news. I have NOT been training. So on Monday evening while doing some post-ride chatting, Eric gave me some training advice. This morning I embraced it.
I left from home while it was still dark, on my road bike, Mr. Darcy. I did about 1 hr on the flats, taking the Riverfront Trail to count as my experience for the day, then proceeded to climb up Little Park road. It was very challenging, and completely awesome.
I really love to feel my body work like that. It is suffering like many have never known- but I kept pushing. I went all the way up to the Ribbon TH. 32ish miles and 3k feet of climbing. You can see it here.
I guess I’ll do another of these kickingyouinthebuttbecauseyouhavearaceandhaven’tbeentrainingsolet’sgooutandkillourselvesalittlebit rides in a couple of days. Probably Magellan loop.
